A practical guide for those who want to truly experience the mountains

Sleeping in a mountain hut isn’t like staying at a hotel. And that’s the beauty of it. Up here, life is simpler. You share spaces, embrace the essentials, rediscover what really matters. But to truly enjoy the experience (and avoid little surprises), it helps to know what to pack before you go.

The first thing we tell you when you book? Bring a sleeping bag liner. It’s mandatory in all huts – for hygiene and out of respect for others. We provide duvets and pillows, but the liner is your responsibility. Forgot it? No worries: you can buy one directly at the hut. Your hiking boots will get you here. But once inside, you’ll need to change. We have slippers available, but if you prefer your own, don’t forget to pack them. In the dorms and common areas, we walk in comfort – and clean. One thing many don’t expect: we don’t provide towels. Bring a small one, preferably microfiber. And if you’re planning on showering, know that it’s coin-operated and only available when we have enough water – which isn’t always guaranteed at this altitude! No plugs in the rooms. We have a communal power strip – with a bit of patience, everyone can recharge. A portable charger (power bank) is always a smart move. Phone signal? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The POS card machine? Works… when it feels like it. So yes – bring some cash, just in case. Life’s easier that way. And here’s a tip from real mountain lovers: pack a flashlight or headlamp. At night, it’s perfect for moving around without waking the whole dorm.

Last but not least, something you can’t pack: respect. The mountains teach silence, patience, and listening. At the hut, we dine together, speak softly, go to sleep early. It’s a slower rhythm. A more human one. If you’re ready to live all this, we’ll be here with open arms. And you’ll see… Waking up to the smell of coffee, the quiet of dawn, and the Pelmo watching over you –you won’t need anything more.
