One of the
oldest huts
in the Dolomites
Rifugio Venezia, at the foot of Monte Pelmo, is one of the oldest mountain huts in the Dolomites. Built in 1892, it has witnessed more than a century of history.
During World War I it was used by partisans, and in September 1944 it was burned down by German troops during a raid.
In the following years it was rebuilt and dedicated to Alba Maria De Luca, a young mountaineer who died prematurely in the mountains.

Barbara arrived at Rifugio Venezia in 2007, but the mountains and hospitality have always been part of her life. She grew up in a family that managed Rifugio Ciareido, spending her summers among trails and peaks from a very young age.
After managing Rifugio Giaf for a year with her husband Oreste—an alpine guide and mountain rescuer with the dream of having a refuge of his own—they chose to move to Rifugio Venezia to combine family life with their passion for the mountains.
It was a choice made from the heart: the desire to be close to their children while taking care of a special place where every hiker can feel at home.
For almost twenty years, Barbara and her children have taken care of this place with passion and authenticity, welcoming hikers, mountaineers and dreamers with simplicity, warmth, and a slice of freshly baked cake.
